An Unearthed Time Capsule

We all remember doing it. As children, we left things behind to come back one day and find -- a friendship treaty buried under the deck, or even initials carved into the nearby tree. Sometimes we did it for a school project, or for a new monument. Or, for church; I remember putting an item in the time capsule when my church moved locations. It wasn't for me to come back and find really, but for the next generation.

It's no different than the modern day bathroom stall graffiti, really. When we're old and gone -- we want those after us to know we were here.

If you're me, you might find yourself in your adult life completely oblivious to having buried something to be unearthed 15 years later.  Let me be the first to say - I wish this had stayed buried. But since it hasn't, we might as well all get a hearty guffaw of it all. Feast your eyes, ladies and gentleman, on the 10 year old mind of a young RB.

A few things to question:

  • Who... is baby?
  • I seem to be quite troubled by war and violence in the world. What major wars were actually taking place in 1996? That's right, there weren't any. Early signs of a drama queen seem to be found.
  • To = too, at the time. Disgraceful.
  • I politely request less divorce, which makes me question who this letter is for. God? Would I refer to God as "baby"? I'd hope not.
  • "...sometimes it just messes you up." Masterful.
